Benjamin Brown

I am captivated and compelled by our visions of technology and the future. As I watch our ideas advance and become more refined, our designs move closer to that which already exists in nature. Pieces of these ideas provoke and prod me. The lines in a drawing or on an object must mirror all these fragments and disparate parts of machines that float in my memory and in my mind.

My drawings and forms are influenced by both the primal and austere nature of prehistoric sculpture. Their skin reflects my infatuation with technology, the transcendent imagery of neo-futurism, and science fiction.These objects and images are both something we might recognize, but also something that seems foriegn. They might belong to a very distant past or a near future.  My work seeks to create sculpture and mixed media drawings that seem outside of time. They could exist in this world, but do not quite belong here.
